About

Our inn.

Established in 2019, Ivy House is a fully functioning accommodations business following provincial and local guidelines and by-laws. Affectionately named after my daughter, the Ivy House includes two, newly renovated suites. Similar to a traditional hotel, your room will be across the hall from one other suite. Both suites are located on the top floor of a 4000 square foot, heritage home. All areas are secured with keyed locks and very private. The shared hallways are very large and the ceilings are high, giving the spaces an airy and roomy feel. The home was recently renovated as a ‘home-tel’ and many extras were added to the renovation to follow this vision. All interior walls and flooring were insulated for maximum privacy and noise control. Each suite is outfitted with its own hot water tank so your tub will never run cold. Extra heat sources were added to each unit. The spaces are very peaceful and designed tastefully modern, scandinavian with a pinch of coastal.

Our story.

Ex-upper Canadian having found herself in Nova Scotia late 2008, Tara MacDonald merged her love of baking and a natural entrepreneurial spirit to establish now infamous Two If By Sea Cafe. Known to locals as TIBS, this much loved croissantery and community hub is credited with kick starting Dartmouth’s renaissance as a bustling business centre. Over her ten year tenure, Tara guided her humble farmers market stall to a well known and loved brand recognized across Canada.

Established in 2019, Ivy House Inn was born out of a passion for home design, renovation and decor as well as a love of Lunenburg and Nova Scotia’s South Shore. Referred to often as ‘paradise’, Tara and Ivy are thrilled to call this special place home and look forward to showcasing its uniqueness to guests of Ivy House.
